Orphanage
In Bangladesh, a significant number of orphaned children live in highly vulnerable conditions. Moved by this reality, Bishop Cowley founded the Congregation with a primary focus on caring for the poorest and most marginalized children, prioritizing their catechesis alongside spiritual and moral formation. Today, the orphanage serves as a sanctuary that communicates God’s love to abandoned and homeless youth who are deprived of care and education due to extreme poverty. With motherly affection, the sisters work to empower these children by providing formal, religious, and moral education, ultimately restoring their human dignity and preparing them for the future.
Our Mission
Consecrated person stands at the heart of the Church, and mission is essential to understanding consecrated life. Inspired by its charism, the SMRA Congregation lives its mission through unconditional love, joyful service, and compassionate presence, especially among the poor and marginalized. As Perfectae Caritatis teaches, consecrated persons participate in the Church’s pastoral mission through education, care of the sick, and other ministries (PC 10).
Through education, healthcare, social and pastoral ministries, the Sisters witness to the Gospel with joy, compassion, creativity, and love. Inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Congregation has extended its mission to eight dioceses in Bangladesh, continually renewing its ministries in response to the needs of the Church, society, and diverse cultures. Ultimately, all their service seeks the glory of the Father (EG 267).
